Training Schedule

I’m taking advantage of a slow Friday at work to develop my training schedule.  I decided to design my own 12-week training program that will smoosh together a bunch of parts of different half marathon programs.  I want to include some cross-training (mostly cycling) because Ben and I are hoping to ride the 50-mile leg of The Prouty, a charity bike ride to raise money for cancer research at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center.  We (unfortunately) know too many people who have cancer and want to ride in honor of our friends and family.  The ride is in our area and we’ve ridden much of the 50-mile loop already.  But my bike riding muscles get out of shape FAST and there are a lot of hills along the way.  Plus, riding will spice up my training and Ben and I can ride together.  Ben doesn’t like running, but he is a GREAT support.   Last year, I went for a 12-mile run in horrible heat and he met me along the way in his air conditioned car with water and bought me a chocolate chip cookie after.  I’m complimenting him to kiss up so he’ll crew for me this summer on the longer runs.  It’s nice to have someone meet you every few miles or so, especially in the heat, to make sure I haven’t fallen over, or been hit by a car (see my last post), or want to cut out early to get a chocolate chip cookie.   I’ll post my training schedule as soon as I finish with it.

Keep on moving…

Amy
