End Week Seven

Another crackin’ weekend, as the Brits say. You unfamiliar Yanks may be concerned that I need rehab, but in Brit slang “cracking” means “the best”. Speaking of Brits, I’ve started listening to a running podcast called Running From the Reaper. You can get it on iTunes. It’s done by Nigel, a British runner who runs through the English countryside and talks about running and whatever else happens to be on his mind. It’s nice to run with Nigel. I think Ben is getting a bit jealous, though, when I say “I’m off to run with Nigel!” Anyway, the weather was cracking. Went for a solo bike ride on Saturday and then today I ran the first 10 miles of the CHaD half marathon course. It was a very warm and humid run which was good because I was able to practice hot weather running and hydration. Didn’t feel sick afterwards which makes me feel I’m getting better at this whole pace and hydration thing. I really only have two goals for the CHaD this year: run the whole distance and don’t feel sick afterwards. Pogue is this coming weekend. An earlier start this year. Getting a bit nervous thinking of the climbing in this race. But I shuffled my butt up the Tuck Drive hill today between miles 8 and 9 so I will shuffle upwards on Saturday. One month until Covered Bridges Half. Where does the time run off to?

Keep cracking,
Amy

  1. Yeah, I got out of the shower this morning to stories about how fit (more brit slang) Nigel is in the photos on his website. I flexed my muscles in my waist-high towel, moobs jiggling, and said ‘yeah but not as fit as me’. To which there was giggling. 🙂
