I’ve run this before. It’s a beautiful run through the Marsh-Billings Rockefeller National Historical Park on the wooded carriage trails of Mt. Tom. You run around a pogue (which is a man-made pond) and there is a bagpiper there in full kit playing as you run around the pond. Once around the pond, you start the steep climb up to the top of Mt. Tom, which overlooks Woodstock, VT. The all downhill! It’s a tough run, but the scenery is beautiful and for parts of the race you are alone and quiet, as the field is capped at 400 runners and most of the elite runners in the area run this race and they are so far ahead of the rest of us which slims the field down nicely.
