Amid hourly delays and server crashes, the Zacuto shootout I alluded to on the 19th finally came out yesterday. I guess they were working to get down to the wire, then beside the wire, then they went below the wire, and so on. Meanwhile everyone was hammering the website so hard with anticipation that it was often serving up database errors, if that gives you any indication of the level of excitement in the community.
So I haven’t actually had a chance to see it yet to determine if it’s any good. I had to go home before it launched but I’d likely have posted it anyway, so here she is. I went deep into the page source on this one to grab the embed code. This is a Beamychron exclusive! Or whatever. You’re welcome. It’s apparently 35 minutes so grab some popcorn. This is episode 1 of 3!
[Ed: I got an email from Zacuto asking me to take the video down. There’s a reason they didn’t provide the embed code, obviously to drive traffic they rightfully deserve. As I was posting it I was thinking, mmmmm, they will find out about this. But I was also thinking, this is a website that has no readers so maybe they won’t care. They do, but they were polite about it. So go here if you’d like to watch. I recommend you do.]

5DDDDDDDDDDDDDDD!
So I found that to be pretty good. Naturally they’re selling DSLR accessories so hyping their target market is smart even though they didn’t use any gear that necessarily demands their equipment (at least in this episode). But if you watch it understanding that I think the results are really informative. No one has done nearly as much so far to compare these cameras.
I’m actually stunned by the results so far. Looking forward to the rest!
