dedication

I saw this posted over on Gizmodo this morning and thought I would share.  It’s a story about guy from South Africa who sat in an African bush puddle for a really long time taking photos of wild animals.  As a result he captured a bunch of neat photos and many diseases.  And this is where the title of the post comes in to play.  I’m not sure the photos were worth the ordeal, or that the technique was absolutely necessary.  Meaning, I think there was a solution other than sitting in disease infested waters to achieve the same thing.  If monkeys are shitting in your bunker, keep them from shitting in your bunker.  But either way you look at it, this is Dedication.  With a capital D.

There are times when I think to myself, it’s dawn and the dew is lifting and the light is perfect, I should go out and take some photos for the love of the craft.  Because I sit in an office every other waking moment while the sun is shining.  Then I roll over and snuggle my head into the pillow and go back to sleep.

So this is a call to myself, to try to start trying to think about trying to get up earlier to try to take some photos.  And you can try to hold me to that.  So help me, as the disembodied webernet is my witness, I will friggin try to try.

  1. I will try to hold you to that. When the sun gets stronger in the morning sky, get up with me and start training your body to get up earlier. It does take some training to get used to being awake that early. And going to bed a bit earlier would help too 🙂

  2. The problem is it means giving up my pretty, my precious, my night. It’s when I broooooood!
