I completed what was probably my last apres-work ride of the season this past week. By the time I was back in the parking lot the stars were out and the moon was high. So I decided to transition to running (blech). There is a beautiful network of trails between campus and the river called Pine Park and I ventured out there on Thursday. I feel like if I’m going to run, it might as well be off the roads.
Because of the amount of riding I’ve been doing this summer I found the work easier than usual and I may have actually been enjoying myself when about half way into the exercise I rolled my ankle on a root. To anyone who knows me… not surprising. My ankles are delicate little things.
Naturally I was about as far out as you can get, and I started hobbling back to the car. As I hobbled it started feeling better, and I realized I’ve done worse before, but I decided to be patient and take it easy rather than attempting to run again. That would only serve to potentially worsen the injury. Today we decided to go for a short hike, and I was happy to find out that the ankle is doing nicely. Might even be able to try my legs at running again this coming week. Normally Holt’s Ledge offers a pretty sweeping view at the top but today, like yesterday, was a bit on the cloudy side. Perfect fall weather!
