Today is Heat Day!

We try to shrink the heating season by as much as possible every year, so we usually curl up for a few weeks in the brisk lower 50s° before finally clicking on the furnace in November. I had on a sweater and a sweatshirt the other night. Hands be damned. Can’t play video games with gloves on. At least not competitively, let’s be clear.

Heat Day is classically and officially precipitated by visitors from out of town, and this year is staying true to form.

Our combined cheapness would otherwise be locked in stalemate until ultimately one of us froze to death. So it is a day of celebration and sorrow. I’ve written a song – here are the lyrics;
