A man by the name of Michael Sacca put together a few videos of the 2010 Prouty. He followed us out on one of our team practice rides and I pop up once or twice. In hindsight, I think it’s because I was riding next to a guy who was doing the 200 mile variant. He was interviewed and featured elsewhere. At the time I thought he was hovering around us because of my superior riding form. 🙂
There was particular interest in our team because our leader was herself fighting a loosing battle with cancer. She passed away a few weeks after the ride. We’re the group all wearing gray shirts around the 1:00 minute mark. I think I mentioned that we went on to win all sorts of top honors for funds and team strength. It was a moving experience.
It’s a good time – I’m eagerly anticipating the ride this year and doubly excited that my brother is coming up from ATL to join us. So far I have a couple of stout 25 mile rides and a handful of lesser rides under my wheels. The actual Prouty route is relatively gentle, but I will hopefully be pushing closer to the goal in the next few weeks. And I was out on my mountain bike for the first time in two years last Thursday. I’ve hooked into a Google Group that meets once a week and I’m hearing about others. There are so many trails around here that I don’t know about or have forgotten about. It’s really nice to have a guide group.
