I’ve re-committed myself to the Hearts of Space radio show. Evidence suggests it’s been around for 30 years but I only became aware shortly after moving to New Hampshire. Maybe it’s because that’s when I became a more serious NPR listener or maybe it’s because the show airs at 11pm on Saturdays. Not a time when I’m typically listening to the radio. Usually I catch 15 minutes by accident when I’m in the car on my way home or something.
The producers won’t do a podcast due to the fees associated with licensing downloadable music, and they charge a healthy fee to stream the archives from their site. It bucks a trend I think many of us have become quite fond of which is consuming content when and where we choose.
The idea of carving out an hour a week at a specific time is a little foreign to me now, but it’s kinda nice to have this segment to look forward to.
When and if we get proper internet I might consider subscribing. Dunno.
So here I am on the couch in the dark listening to another spacey episode. This week is dedicated to Celtic jams so it’s not as mind melty as usual but it’s still good.
Check it out if you’re into ambient music, or music in general.
