I rolled down my window and spoke with a Fairpoint worker on my way home yesterday. She was parked in my neighbor’s driveway, which made me very excited. I said, excuse me miss, you must get this question a lot but… when can we has internetz? Weeks, months, years?

She responded diplomatically and said she didn’t want to get my hopes up and say weeks, because it might be months. But she didn’t want to say months because it’s probably weeks.

My money is still on years, just to be safe. What’s one more among friends?!

Apparently the 2010 budget ran out at the end of last year and work stopped, or else we’d already be on. The 2011 budget is in effect now though and according to her they’ve just got a bit of testing to do before they flip the switch on the storied equipment.

Ahhh, takes me back – last May. So young, so eager and so full of hope.
