There’s unrest in the Middle East? Weird.
The Guardian has photos of some of the make-shift helmets that Egyptians are cooking up to protect themselves from flying debris in everyone’s new favorite rally place that is square – Tahrir. In case you hadn’t heard yet, Tahrir means Freedom everybody. Also, Liberty. Don’t let the symbolism escape you. Lord knows Renee Montagne won’t stop hammering it.
Yeah, so most of the rigs seem moderately serviceable in a pinch – in a revolution – but this one struck me as completely stupid and hilarious. The helmet is likely to cause more harm than good. I can’t tell if his smirk suggests he’s being goofy or he’s just smiling for the camera.
This dude, on the other hand came prepared to fight for his freedom. I choose you for my team, life vest guy.
In all seriousness though, this whole affair that’s going on over there with all of these governments toppling is blowing my mind. I can’t imagine what that’s like. I can’t imagine that happening here. We worry about a lot of stupid stuff here in America and people complain all the time, but I doubt anyone here would take to the streets like this for anything. I hope we never have to.
