So another year on this planet runs by. Yesterday was my 34th birthday and I went for a 5 mile run outside in the snow/slush. It was very sunny out, cold. I wore yak-tracks on my sneakers which made it possible to run up and down some hills. It was a slow run and it hammered home the lesson of don’t drink orange juice anytime before a run. I had a wonderful birthday and am looking forward to another year of running.
And I’m back! Training starts Monday! My first 5 k is March 19th and I will be following a 5k training program to improve my time. It has me doing some speed work which I will mostly do on the treadmill at the gym because of the weather conditions outside. I will try to get out for easy runs, but too slippy right now for going fast. I will then easy into training for my first half of the season in June, along the way running at least one 10k and hopefully a couple of other 5ks. So it’s time to get your sneaks (or snowshoes) back on and head outside!
