And for my final weekend…started off making candy cane cookies. Cookie dough that not’s very sweet with crushed candy canes folded in. The candy canes add the sweetness and melt during baking to form a caramelized crust at the edges.
Next was the roll-out sugar cookies. I was very impressed with the final results. I’m saving the prettiest for our Christmas Eve party at my parents’ house, but there is a full bag of the still yummy “rejects” in our fridge.
And for the finale, I used a Christmas tree muffin tin to bake little spinach and tomato quiches (red and green theme). They didn’t all come out looking like Christmas trees, but some did. And they are yummy regardless and make good little snacks and a couple make for a quick lunch.
So this ends my first annual Bakin’ Around the Christmas Tree. There were some winning recipes and I plan to carry on the tradition next year with a whole new batch of recipes.
Merry, merry, Happy, happy, Jolly, jolly, Yummy, yummy!
