minecraft

Wow, so Minecraft. I heard about this game a while ago, watched the trailer on their home page and thought, meh. Then Penny Arcade did two comics about the game and I found out it has zombies that come out at night. Mmmmmm.

But I still wasn’t interested enough to actually check it out. Gaming on the PC is fairly difficult for me these days since most require some sort of internet connection to download/authenticate. Today though, I stumbled on this video and I laughed very hard;

Which led me to find some videos with more gameplay, so I could understand what the game is a little bit better.

Cut to 5 minutes ago, and I just spent real, actual money on the alpha version of this game. I look forward to playing it after I drag my computer to work, load the game, say hello to the internet once, and drag my computer back home. Joy.

The only other thing I have to say is, folks are doing a way better job selling this game than the developer is. Which is ultimately what you want, but if I were still under the impression that the game revolved around building roller coasters in a blocky world with terrible textures, he wouldn’t have my money right now.

  1. Speaking of Minecraft, I saw this dude who made a working computer in the game. I understand almost none of what he’s talking about, but I love his throwaway comment to the pig at 5:58. Hilarious.
