Ended the week running in sunny CA. Ran with Rhonda this weekend which was nice. Yesterday we did a 10k distance, passing vineyards. Life is tough. Today we are going for a walk in a redwood forest then walking along the beach in Jenner, a town on the Pacific. Doing ok following my diet. Staying active helps. Had crab legs last night which were delish! Of course, the vino is flowing and we are going to taste today at Korbel and then tomorrow we will be hitting some wineries before dinner at Bear Republic, a microbrewery in Healdsburg. May hit some local wineries on Wednesday then going for a long bike ride on some wine trails on Thursday, stopping at 1 or 2 wineries along the way depending on time. Watched a documentary on the Race Across America which is an insane bike race starting in CA and ending on the East Coast. These people are athletic animals. This was about the 2009 race in which a guy was killed in a collision with a truck. The risks are that high. Rhonda and Rich had just come back from crewing for a friend that was trying to attempt it. He eventually dropped out. The race just finished. Last night we watched the documentary of Rich’s second out and back run/walk of Death Valley/Mt Whitney. He and his friend Tom were the first people to do the 300 mile round trip trek and Rhonda was the first woman. Makes me really think about the limits of the human body and how many of us don’t push ourselves enough physically. I’m not taking about to the edge or becoming an ultra athlete. I mean even walking somewhere instead of driving or taking the stairs instead of the elevator. Or running a mile, or two, or thirteen, or 26. Enough diatribing.
